Why Is It So Hard To Stick To A Diet?

It’s a fact that we’re not very good at gauging the importance of our fundamental urges. A University of Amsterdam research team lead by Loran Nordgren has been looking at urges and cravings in the laboratory. what the team is particularly interested in is, how do individuals momentary yearnings mess up their memories.

So why do we fall off the diet wagon? Imagine successfully dieting for months and then one evening you go on an ice cream binge. When you’re done research now shows you’ll probably try to make sense of your lapse. Researchers indicated the best explanation for your behavior is unavailable to you. So… you’ll make up an explanation. You were stressed out, you had no support, you’re weak, and a whole host of self esteem bashing excuses. Research say that if you’re not careful you will talk yourself into believing you’re capable of staying on a diet, even though you overloaded on the ice cream only once.
