Top Five Grocery Stores According to Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports has a history of delivering what consumers want to know: how to get the most bang for your buck. CR regularly provides insight into what’s on the market and if it’s a good deal or not. Recently CR, who historically looks at products turned its evaluating process toward grocery stores. Based on a survey of more than 20,000 shoppers, CR uncovered the three main things shoppers found important.

  1. Short lines
  2. Low prices
  3. Fresh produce

However, good service and store cleanliness was important also.

Most shoppers used multiple stores each week or month, shopping for the items they needed, shopping of dry goods at one and produce at another.

CR used these criteria as a baseline and five supermarkets came out on top.

  1. Wegmans Food Markets
  2. Trader Joe’s
  3. Publix Super Markets
  4. Raley’s Markets
  5. Whole Foods Markets

All five stores had qualities that renforced customer loyalty to insure shoppers returned time after time.
