Ditch The Bad Carbs!

eDiets recently ran an article about “find the hidden carbs in your cupboard.” Here’s the deal: They recommend setting aside an hour to go through your cupboards and frig. You’re looking for things containing added sugars, hydrogenated oils (trans fats) and bleached white flour,” says Nutritionist Christine Senft, M.S., executive editor of Atkins Health & Medical Information Services. So it looks like now it’s time for some label reading.

If it contains ingredients such as sugar, honey or molasses, hydrogenated oils, and/or white flour, then ask yourself if you really need it in the house. When in doubt, ditch it! Clear out the processed junk foods, such as chips, cookies, and pasta and bread made from bleached white flour.

It’s the refined carbohydrates that have no nutrition, such as foods made with white flour and sugar, that you just don’t need in your cupboards.

Here’s a good time to use the Carbohydrate-Guide Good Carbs/Bad Carbs Database. In fact, when you go the page where our database is one handy trick is to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list where is indicates.

Browse through the food categories above OR if you would like to display all the “Good Carbs and Good Fats” from “all” the categories into one list click here.

(Note: This list is large and can take several moments to assemble.)

Since the list is a really long one it does in fact take a little time to process, however, the neat part about the list is that will display all the good carbs in each category and then you can print the list.
